First Annual Garage Sale
The first annual SPCCAA garage sale was held at my home in Richmond one September weekend last year. The purpose of this garage sale was to raise funds for our BC Chapter. In the last few years, our Chapter has been sponsoring a scholarship for needy students attending our Alma Mater, whenever we could gather enough funds to achieve our goal. We would like to make this a more regular, such as a yearly, event. The Board of Directors is developing several fund raising projects and the garage sale is one of them. The September garage sale was very successful and we had fun along the way. The total collection was $580 thanks to all the alumni who donated their "precious junk items", time, and energy to make it possible.
Stay tuned for our next garage sale, which will be held in the summer of 2003. Your generous donations, support, and help will be much appreciated. All sorts of large or small items are welcome. Contact us for details.

sincerely,
Nancy Chan (66)
December 1, 2002 Christmas Party
It was a holly, jolly Christmas lunch at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Richmond. There were lots of kids and even more adults.
The kids just loved it. First there was the craft table. They doodled and made Christmas cards. Then the magician did the pantomime tricks and held them spell-bound.
Adults also had a swell time. All that chit chatting, mingling and reveling in the tough quizzical games dished out by the MCs, Josephine Chung and Bill Chow. Table 4, with Kim Cheng as the brain trust, won the prize.
Oh, don't forget, the food was terrific. Boy, that turkey must have been dunked in oil. So tender and tasty. And the blueberry Christmas pudding. It was temptingly delicious!
The Choir didn't miss a beat under Henry Wong's direction and Rita Kwan's accompaniment. Rudolph, Jingle Bells … ringing in everybody's ears!
The fund-raising table was well visited. Everything was sold with a back order into the bargain.
Who won the 50-50 raffle prizes? Luckily, Julia Eng and Angela Woo.
At 3:00 pm, Santa Claus was quite ready to visit and give out the long-awaited gifts to the little ones. It was fun, fun, fun. What a holly, jolly Christmas party!
Yours
sincerely,
Elizabeth Johnston
